FAQ
Which VPN server is the fastest?
There is no single answer to the question of which VPN server is the fastest, as there are many factors that can affect speed:
- Your geographic location: The closer the server is to you, the faster the connection speed will be.
- Server load: Servers with a large number of users connected to them may be more congested, which will lead to a decrease in speed.
- Bandwidth: Servers with higher bandwidth can provide higher speeds.
- Connection type: The quality of your internet connection also affects VPN speed.
To make it easier for you to determine which server suits you best, we’ve developed a feature where you can check and monitor the load on our servers, as well as their bandwidth. This way, you can conveniently select the server based on speed and ping.
How many devices can I connect ?
At the same time, you can use a subscription on the same device or use the connection on different devices in turn, without any restrictions.
If you need to connect many more devices write us the details of your order and we will discuss with you the individual terms and conditions.
Using Torrents
Our terms of service do not prohibit the use of torrents. However, some servers have ports closed due to complaints from copyright holders. We strongly urge you not to use VPN for file sharing for long periods of time. This clogs the channel with unnecessary traffic and prevents other customers from using the VPN to its full potential.
If you plan to use torrents through our servers, please contact our support team for detailed information.

My DNS server changed when I connected to VPN. Why?
All of our protocols (OpenVPN, L2TP, PPTP, IPSec, IKeV2) force your ISP’s DNS to be changed to our network’s own DNS servers. From our observations, they have a positive impact on the availability of websites and therefore we recommend using these DNS servers.
You can also use DNS servers from Google DNS or OpenDNS without connecting to VPN, by manually entering them in your network card settings.
- Google Public DNS: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
- OpenDNS: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220
If you want to change the DNS to any other, but you don’t know how, use our step-by-step instructions with images.
Here are some additional things to keep in mind when using ALTVPN DNS servers:
- Security: Our DNS servers are secure and will not track your online activity.
- Privacy: Our DNS servers do not log your DNS queries.
- Performance: Our DNS servers are optimized for speed and reliability.
If you have any questions about using ALTVPN DNS servers, please contact our support team.
Can I change the IP address for a specific program?
A VPN does not differentiate between specific applications and does not handle routing at all, but only provides a network interface with a gateway.
Your operating system is responsible for routing, which usually only distinguishes between IP addresses, and other rules are not possible. If you really need the IP address to be changed only in one program, we recommend that you install a virtual machine on which you can run any application, and work with your real IP address on the main operating system.
If you need to change the IP address only in your browser, use private proxies. But do not forget that then all anonymity and your security as a whole are lost.
Here are some additional things to keep in mind when changing your IP address:
- Security: When you change your IP address, you are essentially hiding your identity online. This can make it more difficult for hackers and other malicious actors to track you down.
- Privacy: Changing your IP address can also help to protect your privacy. Your ISP and other third parties will not be able to see what websites you are visiting or what apps you are using.
- Location: Changing your IP address can also be used to spoof your location. This can be useful for accessing geo-restricted content or for bypassing censorship.
If you have any questions about changing your IP address, please contact our support team.
